Submission Policy
Here at The Worldly we are always happy to receive your article submissions on topics of world culture, art, or politics. If your submission reasonably pertains to a cultural topic, we will review, edit, and publish your articles in a timely fashion with your name in the byline and the title of "guest writer" following it, with the understanding that you're submission is indication that you give permission to publish it to the site under Creative Commons Non-Commercial Licensing.
For all article submissions, writers generally choose their own topics. Articles need to be a minimum of 5 paragraphs in length and reflect some concept of international arts, cultures or politics to be considered for publication. Any photos you submit with an article need to be your original work.
We reserve the right to refuse publication of material that is not relevant to or appropriate for the content of our web magazine.
The Worldly does not currently pay any of its staff as we donate 100% of all profits to charity. In the past, we have been contacted by National Geographic, the BBC and have held ties with UCLA Media, so writing for us remains an excellent way to gain exposure and diversify your experience.
WRITERS: The staff of The Worldly is composed of people who enjoy learning about cultures from around the world, and are keenly aware of global issues. Once writers submit articles for 3 consecutive months, we present them with the option of becoming permanent staff members, and they become eligible for editorship positions as they become available. Permanent staff members have their names (and contact information, if they choose) posted to the staff list on the site, and their picture and bio posted to the "Meet the Staff" page.
PHOTOGS / ARTISTS: We offer photographers and artists two options for submission: 1. To submit individual photographs to the online store. By submitting work under this option, photographers authorize The Worldly to license the material for use on merchandise. All profits made through the store are donated to the featured charity organization. 2. To be a featured photographer on the site. You will need to submit a portfolio of 5-10 images, a short bio and brief description of your work. You can then post a link to The Worldly feature on your website, helping you to gain credible exposure.
